Home insurance and moving house

Hi, my home insurance policy runs out mid Dec. If I do move afterwards, what should I do?
Pay in one go like I always do, interest free? But what happens with rest of policy?
Pay monthly and cancel when I move?

You end whenever you like by cancelling, you get a pro rata refund of premium but minus an admin fee of some sort - so you might want to check that when choosing an insurer. Paying monthly doesn't mean month-to-month insurance, it's just a credit agreement for the annual premium.1

Are you stiil going to need home insurance where you are moving to ?If so, your existing provider may well be happy to continue with insuring the new property, although you;d need to let them know and the premiums may be adjusted as a result of the move.1

Its an annual policy irrespective if you pay in full or take a loan from the insurer/broker to repay it in installments so method of payment is irrelevant.
Buy now, maybe choose someone with low/no cancellation fees if the headline premium isnt much more. Nearer to moving ask them to quote to switch the policy to the new address and compare that to the cost of buying a new policy elsewhere factoring in the cancellation costs.0
