Stewart Milne Homes - Experiences?

Hi,
I'm thinking of buying a Stewart Milne home and am very cautious of new builds after a disastrous house in the past (front wall started to part company with the rest of the house and had to be tied back together!). I am particularly interested in peoples experiences of snagging as it was a complete nightmare before, being constantly fobbed off (three page list and nothing "petty"). Have you had any dealings with Stewart Milne Homes in dealing with snagging lists. The house is already built and the builders are due to move off site in the next month or so. That makes me even more nervous as when they are still on site, you can usually hassle the site agent directly.
Ideally, I'd like to hold back a small percentage of the price until all parties agreed that a certain amount of snagging work had been done but I think with these big builders it's basically take it or leave it.
Thanks,
pollocmc

you can hold back a SMALL percentage of the funds on completion day as long as a snag list is produced and given to the site agent in advance, say the beginning of the last week in which you are due to complete, and if the work has not been carried out to NHBC standard .( not yours)
Most developers will invite you around to view the property usally a fortnight in advance anyway.
The developer will sort any items outstanding Im sure as they want the funds in their account asp.
Hope you will be luckier this time around as regards standard of build.my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0
