Want to give a TV to charity.

Hi,

Just wondered who if any one I can approach about giving a TV away to. (a working one, with remote control and paperwork even, been looked after well, just not smart TV-able) it seems such a waste to take to the tip although appreciate it might be best going there.

I've tried British Heart Foundation collection service, as easy as I thought it might be with them, but they don't want to know.  They will only collect two items and I've only a broken sofa to offer which I'm sure they wouldn't take away once accessed.

I would really, really like it to go to someone on a low income or just someone who can't fund everything at once for their new home, maybe where they've been homeless or trying to get their life back after addiction has caused them to lose everything.  Is such a thing possible.

Many thanks.

If you are on facebook there are plenty of local facebook groups where you can offer something for free. You can feel free to put some conditions on it.

You could also try Freegle or Freecycle or the like. People on there are often desperate for working TVs and any other kind of electrical items.

With the best will in the world, if you want to give something away you can't always guarantee that it's going to go to someone with your specifications but in my experience people on Freegle/Freecycle are mostly honest people who are very grateful to receive recycled goods.

Possibly Salvation Army, I believe they offer support services to people who may have lost everything. Or see if you have a local Emmaus charity shop.

For a charity shop, it needs to be one where they can carry out PA testing. Not all can, and they can't sell it without that.

Our local Facebook free items site was requesting for any household items for victims of domestic violence who needed to start from scratch.  There maybe a local organisation like that.
