Event cancellation - Covid no longer covered

Really annoyed with Ticket Seller seetickets.com who sold me tickets for The Enchanted Forest in Pitlochry.

Was taking grandson today but he tested positive for Covid yesterday so no intention of going and spreading it around (especially as would have involved 2 hour bus journey each way).  Had taken out refund protection and sent in form which had space to upload evidence said "eg positive covid test result" so uploaded photo of test.  Received reply saying covid no longer covered as restrictions had been lifted and had to supply detailed form from medical practitioner saying been examined and incapable of attending not simply testing positive.

Chances of getting GP to examine covid patient and cost of providing form more than refund, especially since the refund would only be on grandson's ticket and not on mine since I'm not ill!

No wonder covid is increasing again.

Not surprised that you are annoyed. Whoever is selling the refund cover needs surely to change the wording of the policy? Who is going to be honest about the situation if they will lose money in this way?

The policy is saying they are covered for being too unwell to attend but not for voluntary self isolation.
not sure what you point is about honesty as you have to prove the claim with evidence from a doctor so there isn’t really a way to be dishonest.

would the venue not transfer to another date?

Could transfer but event finishes end of month and is pretty well booked up.  Grandson only has one week holiday in October, this week, so can't go another time.

The honesty issue surely concerns being conscientious and not taking a covid positive child on a busy coach and to a theatre (assuming the child feels well enough to go). My workplace still expects us to isolate (on full pay) if we test positive even though it isn't a legal requirement.

    Ah see what you mean.
i call it consideration, taking personal responsibility etc. But I see what was meant now.

most people I know would be considerate and either reschedule, let someone else go or lose the money.

its a shame they can’t go on a weekend or take him out of school for one day.

Thanks for all the advice.   Unfortunately it's not possible to reschedule as all tickets for any evening left until the event finishes on 30 October are sold out.

Even if there had been tickets available for the remainder of the time one day out of school would not be enough.   Grandson lives 60 miles from me, we then have a 2 hour bus journey to reach the event town.  Since it finishes at 9 pm  there would be no bus home as last bus leaves at 7.15 pm

Have just had to write it off.   Console myself with the fact that we both have free travel on Megabus and if we had to buy tickets this would have cost £60 (non refundable)  on the days we were due to travel.
