The cost of getting a new iPhone 14 Pro Max 256GB with a Vodafone 250GB data contract via mobiles.co.uk for a 2 year contract is £1448 which is literally only £130 more than the cost of the phone itself, so the data costs less than £6 a month. The same deal via Vodafone would be at least £20 more each month.

1) is this website reliable? Any recent experiences from users? The reviews online are mixed. I know it’s owned by Currys, but still.
2) are the phone new new?
3) can I go to Apple for any issues with the phone? I don’t want to deal with mobiles.co.uk, an online company.

I am very tempted but if it looks too good to be true, it probably isn’t.

  • 1) no idea
    2) If not send it back assuming it's advertised as new
    3) No the contract is with the retailer

Used them in the past with no problems, but not recently.

Unless it says otherwise it should be new and sealed.

Although technically, the retailer is responsible, in the past, I have bypassed them and gone straight to the manufacturer, including with a faulty iphone. Apple website will confirm the warranty that's left from the serial/IMEI number

These companies work on lower margin, have no stores to support and get a decent commission from the networks for selling a new contract - not all that unusual to find they work out cheaper. MSE lists such deals quite often
  • Never had any issues with mobiles.co.uk although I've found that mobilephonesdirect have offers that suit me better these days.
I generally take two year contracts that cost little more than a handset, so the deal is probably legit
  • £60 a month? Blimey!

Don’t forget cpi+3.9%, so looking at 14%+ in March

Surely that only applies to the network charges?

There is no breakdown given between handset and network, you'd assume its mainly handset charges but...

You would get a better response posting this in the Phones & TV/Mobiles section (part of the Mortgages and Homes section).

Nope - this is a major downside to any of the major company phone contracts atm!

How do I contact an admin to request to move it? I didn’t know there was a specific section, thanks for that.
