Thankyou again to @elsiepac for all the work you do in putting these threads up as well as behind the scenes.
I'm going to wait until later in October before I finalise my budget as I'm not sure what will happen to prices over the next few days and weeks plus I'm currently managing on rather less than I'd expected to spend. I will set the main Baking Budget though as there are five Wednesdays in November but again I'll have to wait and see how much of the Baking bulk fund I spend.Baking Budget £25
Thanks a lot and I'll be back with the other figures later on.
ETA: @Greying_Pilgrim - sorry to hear of your trials and tribulations and glad that LG has recovered. I was always amazed at the distance one small child could make puke travel and did occasionally wonder if there was a world record to be claimed.6 -
@goldfinches i think my daughter might qualify for that one. At 6 months old she frightened my OH to death! 🤣

Thanks @elsiepac for keeping these challenges going. My month ends on 16th and it feels weird to come back in 2 weeks after everyone else so I'll skip October and aim to declare 16th of November for the previous month. I'll try to come in under £200 again please - that's to cover food cleaning and bathroom supplies for me and 2 dogs. Off to check what I spent up to now.I have borrowed from my future self

Thank you @elsiepac for the new challenge.I’ve decided to make this month a little longer so we can be a bit more frivolous in December. Will start buying Christmas food and drink aswell this month but will be taken from the Christmas account, I will be keeping track of how much we spend this year though. Anyway,
£200, 29th oct to 2nd December for me please.
This is for 2 adults and three children that never stop eatingand includes all cleaning and toiletry products for near enough 5 weeks.
By the time I get to November budget, I will have used almost everything that can make a meal from the freezer and the pantry is not as stocked as I would like. I’m planning on a weekly menu of, one pasta, one jacket potatoes, 1 stew, 1 bean chilli, 1 kids choice usually pizza or fish fingers, 1 noodle or rice dish and 1 “roast” meal but something like toad in hole/casserole/pie - all with lots of veg included. This should allow me to keep costs down.6 -
Hi Elsiepac. I can see you've already got me on the list - I don't vary much do I?
Just to confirm though:
£200 for the calendar month please
That includes all food and drink except the meal out for my brother's birthday.
Thank youFashion on the Ration 2025 - 1.5 coupons remaining
July Grocery Challenge £115.57 of £250 spent
Declutter 7 things (net) in 2025. Done, now trying to keep it even (5 over at present).5 -
Budget for 2 adults and a child- £150
We have surprisingly kept ourselves to an astonishingly small amount in October. We get a lot of treats for free using the cashback apps and I only include the amount out of pocket in my expenses. November will also be a month when we restock our freezer. We eat predominantly vegetarian meals and are out of most vegetables. With my Olio pickups, I'm hoping to keep the number closer to £100.6 -
Morning!
Didn't want to de-rail the thread, but had to say thanks to all for the supportive comments regarding LG
On a groceries note, the loaf of wholemeal bread we buy from MrL has gone up 4p, now 69p. But they have at least brought the cost of their 12 medium eggs back down to £1.99 - they had gone up to £2.09 - a whole 20p dearer than MrAl! Also, whilst in fArmf00ds the other day, I spotted they had a 12 net of bAbyb3l* cheese for £2. This is the cheapest I have seen them in an age. These weren't a necessary purchase, but with half-term fast approaching, they are a lunchbox treat if we manage to go off adventuring anywhere, so I bought a pack. Fast forward to yesterday morning, mooching around the local co-op waiting for the PO to open, and I saw that they were selling their 12 packs of bAbyb3l for £3.45...........................................What??!!??
Greying X
* - I fully realise that bAbyb3l's are a contentious food stuff. But a) they are now bought extremely rarely, and are very much regarded as a treat in our house b) at £2 for 12, they are far cheaper than a serving of ice-cream, which seems to average £3 now when out and about, and c) I credit bAbyb3l's with encouraging LG to eat slices of 'whole' cheese, when previously they didn't like cheese and at best would only eat a little grated cheese on a sandwich. LG will now happily eat pieces of cheese, or sliced cheddar on a sandwich - cheddar which comes from the MrL 900g block 99% of the time........Pounds for Panes £7,005/£10,000 - start date Dec 2023
Grocery Spend July 2025 £191.42/£300
