£63.67 spent today online
weekly shop in with fresh, frozen and cupboard items. I’ve got quite a freezer full now so I think next week is either a small shop or I’ll do it later in the week to use up what I’ve got first.£186.33 left
split across Tesco and Lidl. I’m amazed how much Lidl prices have jumped recently.I needed a few general stock items like bleach, condiments etc that had ran out that bumped the price up.
£101.91 left so need a few cheap shops for the rest of the month or reconsider my budget next month:money::rotfl::T6 -
Already over £100 this month. I have got some serious work to do to stay in budget. Guy came with new part for hob today. He confidently fitted it and it went bang again so now awaiting new hob. What with that and the colder weather the temptation to buy something easy or get a takeaway are getting ever stronger. Is anyone else finding that or is it just me? Stopped by at Sainsbirys today and the gluten free pasta that was 80p last week has gone up to £1.00 a bag. So glad that I got it when i saw it. 20p here and 20p there doesnt seem much but it soon adds up. It is hard to budget when things change from one week to the next. Still I musnt get disheartened. There are people much worse off than us in the World.

A huge shop today in Lidl.
it included fish and meat for the month's meal plan, plenty of tins and store cupboard items.
It's a slightly different approach this month and the plan is to top up with milk, fruit and veg over the rest of the month.
The upside of such a big shopping bill is that I've already "earned" a free bakery item and a £2 off voucher.

After a shop in Mr S today, I'm up to £121.03/£140. That leaves £18.97 for the rest of the month. I've plenty of food in, so that will hopefully stretch for the perishables I'll need for the rest of the month.10

I've spent £44.60 since the beginning of the month on topping up the grocery store, mainly in Sainsbury and Aldi as they are my nearest supermarkets. And thank you to the person who gave the tip about sugar being cheaper in Savers (not sure if it was this thread or one of the others where I lurk). 62p per bag as against 75p in the supermarkets. As Soontobeoap said, it may not seem much but all adds up over time.Grocery challenge 2025: £650/1500 annual budget10

Morning all, small top up of fruit on Sunday £3.03. We did buy a few things yesterday as husband had a discount but he has took off with my receipt which I need to seperate grocery and Xmas spends, so will add that when I get the receipt back
Also will need milk tonight. We have got everything else needed for the week though.

Morning all
Tesco delivery yesterday afternoon. Plus picked up a reduced chicken and Actimel in local market town as i had to go to the bank. Both items half proce saving £4.46.
Main meal today is chicken salad sandwiches and fruit as we had a casserole yesterday.
So totals for food, household and a bit of stocking up is £88.52/ £300.
Happy with this. I have a full freezer and plenty in my larder/cupboards.
Got a lovely reduced gammon joint in Ts about 3 weeks ago ...that's one bit of the Christmas dinner sorted.
It's years since I have completed this challenge. Really enjoying it.
Wishing everyone all the best.

Hi chums weather is appalling at the moment in Kent so although I went to coffee morning after a quick whizz around the deli part of the store i decided to give shopping a miss as I was meeting my eldest Dd at lunchtime in Asda's. Wel I had a lovely bowl of soup and a large cuppa and a softe bread roll and butter for lunch which cost £1.00 as I'm ...err getting on a bit :0 and for pensioners they have a roll and butter a bowl of soup and a hot drink as a special offer. Not one to refuse an offer like that iwas was delicious and went down very well. My Dd wanted to whizz round and get a few bits and I spotted a tub of bird custard powder which I use on their roll-back at £1.25 instead of £1.65 and DD treated me as I had got her coffee
she also got me some choclate as well bless her. So the custard powder has gone upstairs into my dried good stash on the spare room book shelves.
I will probably get my small amount of shopping on Thursday depending on the weather, but more than enough indoors so nothing urgently needed. My list isn't very long and I think I can probably get most of whats needed for under £14.00 with luck.So far only bought a bag of sugar in Savers at 62p for baking with.
its good we are all keeping a sharp eye on the prices as on the radio this morning it said food prices in October were at over 14% inflation so they are still climbing
Operation belt -tightening is definitely on the cards .At coffee morning this morning we were all talking about different ways to cut down,as the total ages of the 6 of us comes in around 450-500 years there a lot of experience there in belt tightening
My friend Christine said she had cooked instead of one large Christmas cake made three smaller ones but cooked them all at the same time in the oven. One of with she will not ice but freeze for maybe Easter and will decorate it with eggs and bunnies etc.
I think we will all become experts by next year on streeetching things out a bit .
