Problem with my 'Apache' Open Office spread sheet.

Trying to amend this problem I've altered the set up of the sheet, i.e. some things are missing now such as the 'update' symbol you can use to update when using the spread sheet instead of updating when you close the page.
Is it possible to restore the s/sheet to 'factory' settings?
I don't want to 'mess around too much trying to restore every thing as I'm afraid I'll make the sheet worst again!
Thanks for any help you can give.
PS. The problem with column additions is still giving the # symbol despite asking that details such as time/date text etc is deleted on the choice, even a full deletion of all choices is not working!

This could be my memory playing tricks, but I thought OpenOffice shows # if the cell content is too long for the current cell/column width.
Does making the column wider help?1 -
I take it you don't have a backup? The # symbol in cells usually means the column isn't wide enough to display the result. Either widening the column or formatting the cell to a shorter style usually does the trick. Not an Open Ofice user myself, so that's all I can suggest.

Hi,as above, either widen the cell by hovering on right hand line of cell letter box and dragging, or highlight cell and reduce decimal places using the red X.0

Yes, you are both correct,
I thought that the column width was enough, should have checked, sorry.
Playing around trying to reset the spread sheet tools is my excuse!0 -
I would suggest replacing OpenOffice with LibreOffice. There hasn't been any meaningful support for OpenOffice since forever.

From your answer I suspect that you use LibreOffice and find it good?
I have a large number of document on Apache, some very important, how would I go about safely transferring them to LibreOffice?
Thanks for any help you can give.0 -
LibreOffice is more recent than OpenOffice, which is unsupported now and pretty much a relic. As such, LibreOffice should open documents saved with OpenOffice. Easy enough to try, just install LibreOffice and give it a go.Discussion here about doing just that.
