But the important question would be which taste best...?
And in what? I wouldn't be putting Sungolds in a sauce base for bolognaise, nor would I dump great slices of Costoluto Fiorentino  in a salad! :D
Then there's personal preferences over sweetness, sharpness, texture, amount of juice and seeds.....

  • Slightly concerned to see the season coming to an end as most of my crop is still green & some still growing! I did cut the growing tips off but a bit late possibly - I unexpectedly had to go away for 3 weeks in July & the rain kept everything watered.

That’s a lot of tomatoes :). All my tomatoes are grown in containers, there are loads left.  They have taken a long time to ripen this year, probably due to a lack of sun.   Thanks to the person who suggested putting an over ripe banana in with the unripe ones, they’re coming on a treat. The only ones that haven’t been so good are the green zebras.

If you have a glut of green ones you could make green tomato chutney.  I use the Good Hoisekeeping recipe, it’s excellent.  If you have loads of ripe ones then have a look at the Isle of Wight tomatoes site, they have some brilliant recipes.

    Cannot fault the taste, excellent.
Yesterday took any remaining fruit off (they ripen in a dish with other tomato's with no problem) , the end total for two plants was 585.
I'm very pleased again with the results.

I grew 5 varieties this year, cherry and baby plum for eating plus san marzano and marmande for canning and moneymaker for whatever. So far 23kg of canning and I don't bother counting the salad/eating ones.

Totally agree on the taste test..  Please post.  :)

I have a pear tree with several varieties on it and the desert pears are scrummy and the best of the pick but the others outweigh
    them considerably.

End of season I picked 7.5kg of Conference pears but I would have gladly swapped those for 500g of the desert pear which I
cannot even remember the name of..  Top Tip make sure your labels last more than 10 years... Because your memory probably
    will not.  :)
