Good morning folks.
The wind is howling and battering the rain against my windows. I'll be making a coffee before clambering back into bed.

My short stroll across the upstairs hall and the wait for the machine to produce my coffee was really cold. It's only 7° outside. 🥶 I've turned my electric blanket on for a blast of heat before getting back up.Yesterday the weather cleared up a bit in the late morning so I ventured out to take away a load of cardboard. I managed to resist any spontaneous shopping or any further activity. 🦥- that's me being a sloth! Actually, I had a small burst of work when I replaced the voile in the bathroom, it didn't need to be cut widthways but it doesn't drape too well. The previous one was softer material, I don't suppose it matters, as long as it functions, doesn't have rips or is grey (like the old one) I'm not going to fuss about it.I went to bed early again and was very snug. SCD was so good last night, even the least able dancer showed some improvement though maybe not enough. This afternoon a friend is coming to hang pictures for me and I have three more small jobs lined up. Nothing difficult or strenuous for him. I want to change two very dim filament lamp bulbs for LEDs but don't know if they are Edison or bayonet types, he can clamber up the steps more easily and safely than me.I hope that others have sunshine, or even just dry weather. Keep safe and warm. Happy Sunday to all.10

Morning everyone,
I didn't get on here yesterday as after FC (lost 2lbs!) we were moving furniture, painting walls and ceilings and French!cing a wardrobe and tallboy. Finally finished around 8pm. Last day of decorating today as new bedroom and stairs/landing carpets are arriving tomorrow and new sofas and chair on Tuesday. My back is really complaining today along with my hands, so I will be glad to see this finished. DH is going on a tip run this morning and there's also a food shop to do at A!di - haven't been for 2 weeks so very overdue. Will see if they have any C stuff in that I can put away.
Glad you got home safely @Gers and that your friend can help with the practical stuff.
Hope you're doing okay @IzzyBee x
In OS news, I have listed some bits on Ebay - couple of pictures no longer needed, plus some vintage pyrex I got from a car boot sale. Also the 70s outfits we wore at a party recently. Some bids already, and all part of the declutter!
Have a good day all,
Coxy

Morning all. Had a nothing day yesterday except going out ofr a cup of tea with friend who is taking redundancy and is understandably terrified and excited at the same time. Stocked up on tuna for the furry beasts while I was out and bought a couple of things for Christmas [ sorry! ]. Came home and did a whole lot more nothing. I'd already made food the day before so that was done and todays delights are a mega fry up for supper and toast for breakfast. I've been hankering for one of those for weeks. Unlike Coxy [ congratulations btw!] I have put on 2lb, so that means today we party, tomorrow we die...t...
Gardening on the cards today I think, OH wants to list some of his little men on Ebay so I'll wait until he wakes up to do that. Other than that, I'm in for a day of binge catch up tv...
Hope your eye is better Izzy, must be so frustrating to have the same thing over and over. Gers, enjoy the company..Coxy, yes, have a break, it doesn't have to be perfect....Have a lovely day if you can, if not, hugs n stuff and wooly blankets....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi9 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. There was evidence of overnight rain when I got up but a glorious sunrise over the moors brought blue sky and sunshine with it. So, for now at least, we have a nice day!
I seemed to get embroiled in some silly jobs when I got up so I have only just eaten breakfast and now enjoying another coffee. I think a slothful day may now follow! I got a hm cottage pie out to defrost for my lunch so just some veg to prep now. I'll do enough to warm up tomorrow with something else.
Apart from the odd exception or two Strictly was brilliant last night with everyone upping their game. I just love Hamza, he's the sweetest chap. I remember watching him as Ranger Hamza on CBBC when youngest DGD was a bit younger. He was so lovely with the children he was exploring with. I think the whole of last night's show may be worth another re-watch this afternoon!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, recuperating or fed up. Take care all and be safe xx

Morning
Been a bit MIA lately, my fingers are giving me a lot of problems as the weather really affects them.
Favourite day of the week. PJs and no pressure to do much.
Also enjoyed SCD last night. Do think Will should have stayed away though he's done himself no favours and I wonder how many people he shared his lurgy with.
Made big chick pea curry yesterday enough for 2 nights. It was OKish but won't be rushing to make again. Will eat it though tonight just need to fiddle with the flavour a bit. Will do a bacon butty this morning to soften the blow of dinner!
Looking forward to the Emmerdale 50th anniversary episode tonight. It is a very dangerous village to live in with all the major disasters and murders but its never boring!
Have a good day all x9 -
Morning all, it's a bit drier today after last night's torrential rain. At one point it hit the patio doors with such force it made me jump, thought someone was trying to get in, but then I was watching an episode of Ghost Adventures at the time👻 😱
I finished all the mending yesterday and I sorted out the freezers too, but then I forgot to take some meat out for today, doh ! Oh well, we can make do with sausages.
Hope everyone has a good Sunday.
Take care all,
nan xx

Ruby, it's not really a recipe, more of a method for cooking any joint that you can cook in a slow cooker/saucepan/pressure cooker. My cousin uses half an onion, a glass of wine and a stock cube/powder, but a good stock cube, not oxo type ones which make everything taste of oxo, a couple of cloves of garlic, not very much liquid at all and basically, very slowly cooks the joint so it's tender. Red wine for beef type joints, white wine for pork or veal. She also slices it up and then rewarms or cooks more for more tenderness but I think she does that after it's cooked and cooled and maybe even on a slicer, will have to ask her..her meat is always very thinly and nicely sliced. And there is very little liquid/gravy at the end, maybe just enough to coat the meat and a dribble over. She also uses different cuts of meat [ we had a joint that came from above the shoulders, it was so tender you could have cut it just by pressing with your finger, not even a fork, she did explain where it was on the cow but i forgot...] than we do and has the advantage of cooking her own cows, so she knows exactly what she's getting in terms of quality, whereas I am going with Lidls best...So anyway, mine was a piece of brisket, a whole head of garlic, intact, but with just the very top cut off, two sticks of celery, one carrot, one onion, a glass of wine, the remains of the porcini stock [ an actual porcini stock cube was used for that] and another beef stock cube [ the knorr pots, rich beef]. I sliced the onion finely but not into tiny bits, used the whizzer for the celery and carrot, chucked it all into my new toy and 'soft' pressure cooked it for an hour [but the more the merrier]. After that I took it out, let it cool, and the garlic bulb, put all the liquid [inc carrots, celery and onion] into another toy and chucked in two heaped spoons of plain flour, whizzed the bejesus out of it, then put it back on and cooked till the flour thickened it. Then sliced the meat when it was cool, chucked it back in and cooked for another half hour. The head of garlic I squeezed out and added to mashed potatoes with some butter and milk [quite a lot of milk this time, just to bring the mash a bit runnier]. I used a lot more liquid than she would have because I love a sauce and plenty of it, but it's not really rocket science, not doing anything especially different in terms of cooking and cooking ingredients, but the taste is incredible, the gravy is amazing, and luckily, there's enough for tonight as well.Sorry for the essay...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi9
