Isn't that Phoenix now? IIRC Phoenix took on its pensions business and now owns the brand name.

Yes , but the 'front end' has not changed since Phoenix took over and nothing really changed at all for the first couple of years. Just recently though they have announced some outsourcing of some activities, including customer services and some staff in Edinburgh have been made redundant. 
I have also noticed them advertising and being more proactive with existing customers, looking for new business.

Yup, Phoenix owns the brand. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point Phoenix renames itself Standard Life.
