Fixed tariff

I’m on a cheap fixed tariff with EDF ending 2024 and had an email on 27/9 saying that I don’t need to submit a meter reading, this morning had another email saying that I do. Cannot speak to anyone as it is an online only acc so tried using their chat which can’t understand a word that I’m saying. Finally got a message saying they will be in touch in 3 days and to pls be polite. It was a standard response. I thought I didn’t need to submit a reading if I’m on fixed tariff?

The tariff is just the price per unit that is fixed - you still need to have meter readings to work out how many units at the fixed price, and therefore calculate your bill.
Fixed price does not mean "all you can eat for one payment"0 -
EDF only bill once every 6 months, so will only ask for readings twice a year. Nothing stopping you submitting readings monthly though - keep a record of what you submit, don't rely on the online account. You can then work out what your costs are likely to be each month.
As above, a fixed tariff is certainly not a fixed charge regardless of how much you use.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
