Good morning, I'm an early starter today. After a bad night I've given up on sleep and come downstairs, I need coffee.
It's still dark of course but seems ok out there. Yesterday was a nice sunny day.
We will hit the long and winding road south this morning, to visit members of Dh's family, first in Wiltshire then down to Devon.
We are more or less ready to go, just the car to pack.
Hope everyone is all right and has a good day - take care folks.

Morning
Scarlet - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dark, dry start to the day.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy..
Dinner last night was a use up of some items, eggs, bacon, sausages, potato, cheese, beans and mushrooms - all eaten and enjoyed. Will plan tonight's meal whilst in SM doing the food shopping this morning.
Work was ok, now going to enjoy days' off. I have the normal "to do" list today.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all. Thanks for starting us off Scarlet. I too had a strangely wakeful night, very unlike me. It's already raining quite heavily.Driving down to Glasgow yesterday was lovely, hardly any traffic going my way and dry bright weather despite the early fog. Once here I had a couple of jobs to do before going for the birthday lunch. We had a wonderful time, eating, drinking and nattering away until gone 3pm. Once I got back to the hotel I went straight back out to the cinema for the early evening showing of 'Mrs Harris...'. Not surprisingly there wasn't a single man in the tiny screening room and everyone had a glass (or bottle) of wine with them. 😀 The film was certainly feel-good, light-hearted and funny. Perfect for a rainy late afternoon. The lemon drizzle cake was tasted by the birthday boy later, I received an email from him saying it was lovely. 🎉This morning I'm heading home after doing a small shopping trip. I want to make more lentil soup and need carrots. I collected a replacement voile for my bathroom which I'll hang, I think it's too wide so I'll probably have to cut it down
For now, I wish everyone a happy Friday.11 -
Morning all and thanks for the start Scarlet - safe travels x
I'm meeting a 'friend' for a coffee later. This is one of those who snubbed us at the wedding a few weeks back who has finally got in touch to check in. Should be an interesting conversation.
I painted the first of two coats of satinwood on the box room woodwork last night. Was working alone as DH had some work to finish. Final coat tonight, then it's walls and ceiling tomorrow and Sunday, in readiness for the carpet fitting on Monday aaargh! Luckily I'm in the office on Monday so DH will deal with it all! We had breaded plaice and sweet potato chips for tea last night - really delicious.
Glad you enjoyed the film @Gers and your friend enjoyed your baking efforts!
Does anyone else have OA and do you take anything natural for it? Have heard turmeric is good but understand large quantities are needed. My left-hand fingers are so painful - luckily I'm right-handed, but even picking up a mug of tea hurts!! TIA
Have a good day all,
Coxy

Morning folks and thanks for the very early start SCARLET. Have a safe journey south.
I actually had one of my few and far between good sleeps last night but woke up feeling worse for it! I felt as stiff as a board getting out of bed. Old age is such fun. Anyway the good news is it feels milder so no heating on this morning. Long may it last!
I had a lovely meal with DD and the girls yesterday. Large platefuls from the carvery were consumed by all and we even managed to force down a pud afterwards. Sadly three consecutive days of eating out have left me feeling like Bessie Bunter and I really must have a few days of healthy eating after all the stodge! Easier said than done!
So it's Friday yet again and that means a dust and vac up and down and all around. Such fun. It will be done at snail's pace as usual.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. IZZY you sound to be on the mend at last. GERS that sounded a lovely day yesterday. Safe journey home. CAMELOT have a wonderful holiday. Take care all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9 -

Grey here in Kent. Off to do my last cleaning jobs for the week. I'm meeting a friend later for a late lunch. DP cooked chicken casserole for dinner in the slow cooker last night and very nice it was.

Morning all, I always read along but never contribute, as never feel I have much to report. Glad to see Martin Lewis got an award at NTA’s, didn’t watch but saw in papers.
I’m in Kent too @Madbat60 , going to Folkestone tonight to see Grenadier Guard concert. In true OS style, a picnic will accompany us for lunch, and we are being treated to pre show dinner.
Have a good day allCarolbee9 -
Morning all we had rain earlier and it's stopped for now but it is dark and damp outside. I did a load in the wm yesterday and it mostly dried, so it should be ready for putting away after a night on the airer. I also finished all my ironing 👼
This morning I'm waiting for a delivery, some things for DGD's birthday which is in a couple of weeks. In the meantime I want to scrub the bathroom and run the hoover over the upstairs, I'll hoover the van carpets too while I have the hoover out, then they're ready to go away for the winter.
Scarlet have a safe journey and enjoy your time with DH's family.
Izzy hope those anti b's do the trick asap.
Carolbee Hello
Coxy sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I'm sending gentle hugs.
Right another coffee before I start on the bathroom.
Take care all, stay safe

Morning all. Didn't post yesterday, I started, then I got distracted and kept getting distracted until it was late. On the plus side, the front garden has had a good trim, and is adorned with my compost where I could stretch it. I'm the proud owner of a new hotbin [ a lovely neighbour has given me it, I did tell him to sell it, but he said no, so we compromised, I said he could have it back whenever he fancied, so now it's on indefinite loan] so I will be cutting grass and trying my best to fill up two bins now. I've got a brisket joint to cook later on with some garlic [whole bulb, for garlic mash] and porcini stock [leftover from risotto last night], I'm trying a method my cousin uses when she does hers, it tastes so good, nothing like anything I've ever made, so here's hoping it comes out alright. And there is a mni celebration for one of my friends who has decided to take VR and cut her hours down to bare minimum somewhere else doing something she likes because life is short. She's ten years or so off a state pension but has private onesto kick in in a few years time so took the leap. Not sure she foresaw the current economic crisis in advance but then, she has no mortage because it's already paid off so she's not in a bad position. Good on her I say.Scarlet, wave as you go past Wiltshire Have a lovely time. Gers, glad he had a nice birthday and the cake was appreciated. Coxy, hope you find a remedy for your hands..TA, your meal sounds lovely, and so do your family. Izzy, I think you blummin well deserve a lie in to be honest. Ruby, if you feel better then you've obviously made the right decision. We do get emotionally manipulated into doing things we don't want to do sometimes..Better to nip that in the bud straightaway. Not too bad out today so still take care but you know, jump in a puddle or somethingShampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...6

Hi everyone,
We have a very quiet house, L, B and E have gone to Wales for a week and it feels very strange. I have a whole list of jobs I want to accomplish while they are away but I seem to have developed labyrinthitis on the back of the cold I had. The room keeps spinning when I stand up or lie down and I have a horrible whistling in my ears. I was on the phone the moment the surgery opened and for a wonder ended up 2nd in the queue. Anyway there is now a prescription at the chemist for me so hopefully I'll feel better soon.
My brain is fairly mush at the moment so I'll just wish everyone a good day, ask Carolbee to keep posting (although I don't post as often as I used to because a certain toddler occupies my days and by the time i get on a lot of the time it's the evening).5
