Universal Credit Help

I am employed and my wife is looking to start work again in a self employed capacity. We are currently receiving UC. We have a good idea what my wife is likely to earn and would like to come completely off UC as we want to be completely independent. Reading posts here and elsewhere the best advice seems to be just to report earnings and let UC but we really do t want to do that. Can we just say we want to opt out or not?
