Can you give us some consumption figures please
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
They can.
However, if you know your real use (i.e. proper meter readings over at least a year) then you can make a case to them if you feel they are wrong and get them to adjust the monthly to match your real use.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). That’s in £ which is useless for this sort of calculation. It needs to be in kWh and preferably actual meter readings not estimates.Delecia said:Thanks - from September 21-October 22 I have used £1,300.27.

1 unit this winter could be costing twice what it did last winter, and this winter will probably be colder than last, so the price being more than double (plus the extra four months) could be right.0 -
Gas -16331kWh
Electric - 1812 kWh
accurate readings for the last 12 months0 -
I suspect that the supplier doesn’t want you to end up with a zero balance at the start of next Winter. This could be avoided if the supplier went for a 12 month DD assessment and then reviewed it again in six months. That said, some suppliers now review estimated annual consumption and DD payments on a monthly basis.Delecia said:I pay £147 for my gas and electric, I am £402.65 in credit - I have been told by Scottish Power that they have done a review upto 20/02/2024 and from 1/11/22 my direct debit changes to £240. I am a pensioner. Can they calculate for 16 month

That's about £2600 for the year, £215 a month.Delecia said:Gas -16331kWh

A key fact that has been missed by many posters is that under the EPG Cap, energy prices - for the average Ofgem consumer - have risen by 27% from the 1st October. They had already gone up by 95% due to the Cap increases in October last year, and again in April.1
