Dead wasps on bathroom floor

I’ve just moved into a house and, 3 mornings now I’ve gone into the bathroom and found a dead wasp on the ground. Obviously happy to just get rid of that but a bit concerned about where they’re coming from and if there’s going to be thousands of them in the summer. Assuming now it’s cold outside they’re crawling into the house instead of outside from wherever they live. I’ve had a good look in the bathroom and can’t see anything suspect. Any advice appreciated?

I assume you have your bathroom window open and the lone wasp flies in to die. It's the time of year that wasps die due to starvation. If suddenly you find lots of dead wasps in one go there is probably a colony nearby.1

A mere wasp a day doesn't suggest there's a nest particularly close - and even if there is, they don't reuse nests the next year, so may be somewhere completely different.0

Ah ok yes that is reassuring. I keep the window open on the latch so probably enough room to crawl in.
Thing is they’ve not died on the windowsill, they’re all right in the middle of the floor. Ok I’ll ignore it and stop imagining they’re coming out the light fixture or something…0 -
Wasps die at this time of year, and if you do have a nest in the eaves, don't return to the same nest site. Could they be coming through the extractor fan?£216 saved 24 October 20140

Our bedroom where we live now has had this for the last couple of weeks and I can’t work it out. The windows are UPVC, the vents are closed, there’s no sign of any kind of hole or gaps anywhere yet there’s been dead wasps on the window ledge and carpet as well as the odd live one flying around hitting the glass. I can’t work it out! They’re dying this time of year so I’m not that worried but it’s definitely strange!0

Often from extractor fans in my experience this time of the year - if you have a fan take a look behind it and see if it has a one-way back-draft flap or not. if it doesn't they can be added separately if the duct is long enough - but they dont like to be vertical.0

Could be a nest in the roof space. We had one in our previous (Victorian terrace) bathroom roof (one of those traditional 'off the kitchen' bathrooms). I'd find dead or dying wasps on a daily basis as the autumn closed in. They didn't return the following summer (as has been said, they don't reuse the nest the next year). Later we had the bathroom completely refurbished and the (empty) nest was still there (much to the builder's horror as he was a bit phobic about wasps). So intricate and beautiful....

When we had literally dozens of wasps around the back door , it was discovered there were two nests in the attic. One current and one old one.0

Had the same in our current house. Opened a light fitting and dozens of dead wasps fell down. Nest was in the attic.
Dead and dying wasps were everywhere for a whole autumn.
Not one of us got stung ever.
