Please help - estimated gas bill ten times what it should be

I am with OVO and it's not my experience that they only accept meter readings taken on the last day of the month. In fact I take readings every few days and submit them online to my account. And I can see that when they generate the monthly bill they use the most recent readings I have given and, if necessary, add the appropriate number of days estimates (usually only one or two).Robin9 said:
Unfortunately those who work in Customer Services for the Energy Companies have a poor reputation for quality.PrudentEllie said:Thank you so much all of you, Robin9, BooJewels, Coffeekup, Tucosalamanca, and MWT! My internet connection keeps dropping out - so frustrating, I keep missing things and having to log in again twenty minutes later! Thank you all for your help, it is very much appreciated I assure you. Wouldn't it have been nice if the man from OVO had had the intelligence and decency to say any of this to me - such a lot of misery would have been saved!Does anyone think the man from OVO's last idea that the computer only accepted meter readings taken and submitted on the 31st of each month is true - surely it can't be?? He said that the computer had ignored all my meter readings as they weren't on the 31st of the month... yet from what you all say they seem about right now that it has been explained to me, therefore that has to be a load of hooey.
OVO's users may comment about only providing readings on the last day of the month.0 -
[Obviously I'm not OP so this is is only speculation, but] councils often don't have bank details for people who don't pay Council Tax as they get full reduction, so the rebate was sent via other means - often vouchers/cheques (I can't remember what exactly) to be cashed at the Post Office.Robin9 said:
Missed that. My £150 came direct to my Bank Account. So @PrudentEllie why the trips to the Post Office ?Miser1964 said:
The OP mentioned that OVO has a direct debit to pay the bills so I'd assumed soRobin9 said:

Also having benefits paid into bank account would avoid taxi to Post Office.
