The cost definitely seems high, but you would have to pay this amount because you agree with it. The average price of one bed flat decoration with 2-3 days should be from £950 to £1,300. However, if they don't use their material or if you provide them with the material, then they typically charge £160 to £240 per day.

But maybe because of a surge in inflation nowadays, everyone wants to charge high, and honestly, no one is able to deal with such scenarios. In this regard, you can simply use online sources like this to get free quotes and know the difference. By the way, charges also vary if you have stained ceilings or damp walls. No of paint coats and further tasks also enhance the quote.

I can't comment on value, but from previous experience, I found that you agree to either a fixed price or a day rate.

If you seek a day rate you need to understand the terms of their working hours and seek references to establish if they are fast/slow compared to your expectation.

If you seek a fixed cost (Excluding fair unforeseen additions) if they take 2 days or 2 weeks as long as the work is a satisfactory standard as agreed I don't see the problem.

  • were having kitchen, hall, stairs, landing, ceilings  all done including mist coat and shes intending to be there 7 days total £1200 which sounded fair.

£2000 for decorating over 3 1/2 days seems a lot, but so does £1500.  Were they painting a fresco of the Last Supper?

I normally do my own decroating but paid £760 for one 8'x12' wall to be painted, which took three full (10-6, 9-6, 9-8) days.  She provided her own paints (some sprayed but mostly Valspar tester pots mixed at B&Q) and you can see the result on her website:

I am very happy with the result and the price (and told the artist she should charge more!).  Not everyone would chose to have a Death Star on the wall of their spare room, but it's my house and I do  :D .

I hope the sockets were made safe before the job was completed.

Naturally.  I'm not asking anyone to work in an environment with exposed live mains wiring. I certainly don't when I'm decorating / DIYing.  That's so fundamental it doesn't even need to be said.

Thats an amazing job she has done there. I wonder I would be able to get sign off for something similar for my boys room :)
