You can register for text alerts for power outages at https://www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk/power-cut/text-updates?noAddressFound=true
Not nationwide.  I think that one is south east only.

The majority of the radio sites will be connected to the same local supply as the surrounding properties.  They do have battery backup, but this will only power the site for 6-10 hours depending on how loaded the site is.
Since the planned blackouts will only be 3(?) hour blocks, 6-10 hours should be plenty.

It says my region is not covered, then I checked the home page and it said they only cover parts of the country.

    You're not in our area!
Unfortunately, we're not the local electricity distributor for this postcode '*** ***'
    You should contact your distributor:
    Western Power Distribution on 0800 6783 105
    or visit their website
    https://www.westernpower.co.uk

Going to that website which redirects to national grid there is no text messaging service.

Very annoying! They should rebrand as (Some parts of the) UK Power Networks.

UK Power Networks is one of the DNOs - they have three of the licence areas (Eastern, London and South-East).

Western Power Distribution was one of the others - with four licence areas (East Midlands, West Midlands, South Wales and South-West).  They were bought by National Grid very recently, who aren't very good at the customer facing stuff because they've never had to do it before.

That's unfortunate timing, with the potential events ahead.
