Contents insurance for a second home?

I know, I know, it's irresponsible and I shouldn't have one - but I inherited a flat from my father in an attractive part of the country and I'm using it as a holiday home.
It's a flat in a block, so I don't require building insurance, just for the contents, but I'm having real trouble finding anyone to insure me for this - insurers all seem to object to it being unoccupied for periods of time, and seem to require a fortnightly inspection - at least - but it's 360 miles away!
Can anyone in a similar situation recommend an insurer that I might get some joy from?
TIA

Are you looking at second/holiday home insurance or regular home insurance?
This is really the space of brokers still, there are policies with more limited restrictions1 -
I was kind of assuming that there wasn't a difference? What I want is simply to insure the flat against break ins etc while I'm not there? Protect the contents of it, basically.DullGreyGuy said:Are you looking at second/holiday home insurance or regular home insurance?

Try Schofield holiday home insurance for a quote1

No, Home insurance requires the property to be your main residence and hence only allows modest times of being unoccupied. Second Home insurance knows you wont be there so often and so is more comfortable with periods of unoccupation however will often also have clauses like having a min-temp on the heating to stop pipes freezing etc instead.mopezone said:
