My wife has had a John Lewis card for years, so decided to apply for the new one which came through with an increased credit limit. She also been for a number of years doing balance transfers between cards, all being cleared well within the time, this time having purchased some Apple equipment from John Lewis for the points and some other bits elsewhere total amount about £2k she tried to do a balance transfer but none would accept BT from the John Lewis card including her new Virgin Money card which advertises taking BT from any Mastercard.
Does anybody Know why this should be? And why there are no warnings about this.

I looked and honestly it looks like it should be okay. Perhaps they class it as a "Certain Store Card". Phone Virgin and see if anyone can tell you. It's been a while since you posted so I doubt anyone knows.6.6 You cannot transfer a balance to this account from another card
we issue, another card issued by a non-UK financial organisation or
from certain store cards. You should not use your card to repay other
borrowing from us.
