Do i accept new tariff deal without the EPG detail?
I'm new to this, so apologies if it's been covered before.
I have a 12 month fixed tariff deal with Eon Next, which finishes at the end of this month. Their website asks me to choose my new tariff - a tariff which puts my dual fuel energy costs from around £1,600 to £5,200. After picking myself off the floor, the explanation at the bottom of the tariff page basically says: don't panic, you won't pay this, we haven't input the EPG figures yet, but your new bill will show them. I did point out that it might have been better to have this explanation before the figures, not afterwards!
However, 2 weeks later (today), the figures haven't changed.
Question 1: Should Eon be showing the correct figures by now?
Question 2: Is there any legal risk to me accepting the tariff now, without the new figures? (or is it just a marketing thing to make me pleased with anything less than £5,200?)
Thank you

The one thing I would be careful about is signing up for any new fixed tariff, as the EPG 'discount' does not apply to any new fixed tariffs entered into from 1st October onwards.Moving to the standard variable rate however should be safe.3

Personally, I wouldn't accept any fixed rate that isn't at the current EPG or below, and I very much doubt any supplier would be offering anything like that yet. Signing up to new fixed deals also excludes you from the EPG, so be very careful.

I’m assuming your new tariff is called Next Flex. That’s the SVT so you will pay the EPG rates.
I don’t think E.ON are offering any new fixes at the moment.2 -
Hi SparkyGrad
Yes, you're correct on all points - it is called Next Flex, it is the SVT and they say I will pay the EPG rates
I just don't like it that their estimated costs don't use the EPG rates - and it makes me uncomfortable agreeing to the tariff, when it doesn't show the correct figures - 20 years of budget monitoring as a living teaches me that what I'm paying should be reflected in the paperwork and it isn't. I have enough problems already in that they consistently fail to apply the gas charges to my account despite smart meters for both gas and electricity and the readings clearly showing in my account.
Anyway, if i do nothing, i will end up on that tariff anyway, so I'm tempted to wait and see what happens...Watch this space0 -
i agree that if you do nothing you will move onto the variable rate anyway so i can't see an advantage of you actively 'moving', especially if you arent sure what you would be moving toAlmost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.0
