Which car? Yaris or Jazz
Hello,
Grateful for your advice on this...
I'm looking to buy a car for elderly parents and have narrowed it down to a Honda Jazz or a Toyota Yaris. Both are roughly the same price and from 2018. They would generally be doing short journeys but would do some longer distances not generally more than 100 miles.
Any thoughts as to which would be a better option?
many thanks
David

get them to try them both, they may then make the decision for you
buy petrol rather than diesel1 -
Both have great reputation for reliability.
Jazz has magic seats which may be useful if either parent needs a wheelchair in the future.
Best thing is to try both.0 -
..tough call, both are great cars.Assume automatic gears, and I think the Jazz auto is a CVT transmission which some people may not like?As above, need to try both and see which one suits.NB When looking for my parents I got them a Vauxhall Agila (auto), as the seat heights is quite "tall". (NB Actually a re-badged Suzuki Splash, turned out to be a good car and very reliable). Also got a Hyundai i10 for inlaws which also seems to have been a good car so far..."It's everybody's fault but mine...."0

The Jazz used to have sliding doors but now doesn't? I'm struggling to find out when that changed.I think the Yaris is a bit taller and shorter, so probably better if you're not worried about boot/passenger space, but it's minimal so I'd try and get them to go sit in and ideally drive both to see what they prefer. They won't do badly with either.0

Both good cars. I'd be happy with the manual petrol versions of either.
The honda 1.3 vtech is a great engine though0 -
Check the service history with the yaris.Everybody knows the yaris is bulletproof, and never needs servicing, so they are often neglected. I won't say they thrive on neglect, they do seem to run with only a drop of black treacle in the sump, but I'd rather it had been taken care of.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

I had the same choice. I chose the Jazz - I love my Jazz.
But I didn't choose the Yaris, so I can't say I wouldn't have loved it more0 -
Latest Yaris and Jazz or older models?
Either will be good for local trips, Jazz may be better for longer runs.
Yaris gets up to a ten year warranty if serviced at main dealer.0 -
I imagine the one with the higher seating for ease of getting in and out.0
