Izzy - that's just not acceptable customer service from your surgery, kick up a fuss big time.Yesterday I eventually got round to ringing my surgery about the 'ringworm' on my arm. I asked for a telephone consultation with a nurse practitioner and was instead told about the new walk-in nurse clinic which is held every morning. Despite being called walk-in a loose appointment is made but no specific time. Got on my shoes and coat and headed off, had a little wait before the nurse called me. It's not ringworm but a very small neat round patch of eczema, both options are equally baffling! Anyway, came away with some cream and a great deal of relief.Snoozer - coughing so much is really tiring, I hope that you're getting a good deal of rest.Rosy - what an expensive animal though I'm sure that the love returned is fabulous. I still miss my beloved moggie from my childhood.Right, off to battle the elements.8

Morning
Gers.. It was just a new part thank goodness. Its an old system with a hot water cylinder in an airing cupboard. The cylinder thermostat setting the water temperature wasn't working so it just continued to heat with no cut off. The water always came out near boiling. He fitted a new thermostat and set it for 55 so I'll have to see how it goes now.
Very glad its not a new boiler right now
Had a call yesterday from my old cleaner you may remember she had the audacity to get pregnant and go on mat leaveWe had a chat and she is due back in Nov. I had a fall out with the company she works with as they were charging me despite not providing a cleaner. Anyway she is going to work with me "on the side". To be quite honest I really can't afford it atm but the house really has gone downhill without any help. I can't push a hoover, change bedding or manage windows. Anyway I decided there are few things I can cut down on. The gardener finishes this week for a few months and I can trim a few things. It will be worth it just to to have my spotless house back!
Nothing much in the diary today. I do need to edit my delivery for tomorrow but other than that I can start to plan the emergency clean up before the cleaner comes!
Had my favourite prawn cocktail last night but the lettuce had finally died in the fridge so need to add one for tomorrow. Few prawns left so I'll have a prawn butty for lunch then something easy tonight.
Have a good day all x

Morning everyone
Lovely sunny morning here again - sorry Camelot!
I have a plumber and his apprentice here sorting my boiler as my heating wasn't working properly. He keeps giving me updates and I'm pretending I know what he's talking about. I need another visit as apparently my bathroom radiator needs taken off the wall and a hole cut in the wall and an electrician needs to be here as well. He seems to know what he's taking about - it's quite funny listening as he's teaching the young lad and keeps saying things like 'shocking system' and 'no wonder it doesn't work.'
Nelski - he's reducing the temperature and doing something else to make it cheaper to run.
When they're done I'm going to start some soup off in the slow cooker and then go down to mam and dads. My mam rang in quite a state last night - my dad had turned very aggressive last night with her and his carer when they were sorting him for bed. It was completely out of character and mam was so upset. I did some googling and found that a UTI can cause a sudden change in character in people with dementia. Mam is going to ring the doctors this morning - we expect dad will have forgotten all about it.
Izzybee and Snoozer - hope you're feeling better soon
Scarlet ribbons - I was classed as an 'older mum' when I had eldest DD - I was 28! Don't suppose they do that now
Red ruby - your day out sounds fun - your clients are lucky to have you
Well they've gone to buy a part now....just glad I'm in a council house and don't have to pay for this x
Hope everyone has a good day - take care x7 -
Morning all, didn't get on here yesterday as we were out and about. We went to the camping shop but when we got there it was closed, no idea why, so we went into the garden centre next door. I spent a happy hour wandering around the xmas stuff before going for a coffee. I bought a few things including a new torch for dad and some fudge for DD, hoping it would cheer her up a bit. We popped round to DD's on the way home and left the fudge on the doorstep then had a very distanced conversation (shout) as I stood on the pavement about 15 feet away 😁 She still looks awful and has now lost her taste so will keep the fudge till it comes back. The DGC made short work of their chocolate lollies after school though.
Today I have woken up with a sore and aching shoulder, no idea how I've done that it as was fine when I went to bed. I shall try to help Mr Fix It to cut back a conifer as he's getting a wet arm when he walks to his shed. After that there's nothing pending for today, so I'll get on with my jigsaw.
Hugs to the poorly ones or anyone in need of one.
Take care all

Afternoon all
I've had the electrician here all day doing some work in the kitchen. We needed a new fuse board, more expense I fortunately have the money to pay for. The kitchen still isn't finished but the outstanding bits are few. I can't wait to cook a proper dinner. I've cleaned where I can today and hopefully I can get straight in the next couple of days. I managed to get a couple of loads of washing on the line this morning. DP is out in the garden building an outside cooking area which will have a fireplace and a pizza oven. He already has a smoker. DP led a very feral life and likes yo be outdoors. He's great to go camping with.
@dp1 I have worked with older adults for years and yes I would get your Dad seen by the doctor as infection and constipation can cause agitation and increased confusion in people with dementia.
@Nelski I think having a clean home is really important. When I'm not doing nights I clean my gym and three ladies. My plan is to do less nights and more cleaning. It's incredibly satisfying to do. This is my first year as self-employed, I'm still trying to get my head around it.
Have a fabulous evening.6
