i would agree with healthier if you are comparing to deep frying and i do think chips in the air fryer taste better than chips in the oven (the outside crisps but they are less dry inside probably because they cook faster with the hot air more like if they were actually fried rather than baked)I am sorry, i feel i must apologize wholeheartedly, i was being sarcastic. There didn't appear to be much in the way of scientific fact on offer on those wbsites. It's just that the whole thing seems to be rather subjective!Take this chaps view for instance compared to yours:-I would be very interested for someone with suitable skills and test equipment to do a real-world energy comparison of cooking some chips, or even a tasty free range chicken in an air fryer v a 58L convection oven.TIA

i agree it's subjective but i don't think it can be much else. i think a lot will depend on personal taste/opinion as well as the exact brand of chip and how much is put in the basket. some 'oven chips' for example come with a coating of oil and these (IME) crisp up lovely in the air fryer. if you make your own like my MIL does just using potatoes and seasoning then you can end up with something more like dehydrated potato sticks than 'proper' chips. she really likes her 'chips'. i really like ours. that's subjective. just the same as chips from a chip shop - crispy and delicious or soggy and fatty? depends on the chip shop and the day.Freebird53 said:

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
