Savings in a savings account are safe as long as you don't add more than £85k with a single entity.
Savings in stock and shares are never 'safe' as the market goes up and down. I invest in a stocks and shares ISA for my son, it was up 14% earlier this year, its now down 2% but its going to be in there for another 16 year until he turns 18 so over that time it should be up significantly....hopefully

Very good question....pension funds are close to bankruptcy paying out more than their investments are making at the moment so they are selling assets for cash flow to pay pensions. Selling secured fixed interest rate government bonds due to inflation making them a poor investment so the Bank of England is printing £65 billion to buy them devaluing them further.We may see bank bail-ins in the future using customers deposits under the 2009 Banking Act.1

How safe are savings in this market turmoil atm?Savings dont suffer market volatility.pension funds are close to bankruptcy paying out more than their investments are making at the moment so they are selling assets for cash flow to pay pensions.a small number may be but the vast majority are not. And its important to note that its already a small number as "pensions" in this case only refer to defined benefit schemes. Not so many of those left nowadays. Those schemes get 90% protection under the PPF.
