Boiler problem
My boiler is pretty old and situated in a cold garage. It seems to be turning itself on for hours on end, I think as it's reaching a set temperature where it turns on to keep itself warm. There's no heat being called for inside the house.
Pretty worried about the boiler being on most of the time, especially as we're not in the winter yet!
I'm thinking that I should perhaps get it upgraded and moved to inside the house somewhere to avoid it turning itself on at all hours!
Are there any government grants on either now or in the near future which I could use please?

Is it heating hot water?
What is controlling it - a programmer somewhere.
Pictures of the boiler, it's display when running with no demand, the programmer and thermostat may help us to give better advice.1 -
Thanks Phil. I've turned it down slightly. Perhaps it's faulty, don't think it was particularly cold last night for it to be turning itself on but you never know.[Deleted User] said:That does sound like a 'Frost stat' operating. I would expect the Frost stat to be a discrete component, rather something built-in - but you never know...)
You should find it's adjustable, though you may have to remove its front cover to do so. It may be adjustable through quite a large range - just picking one at random, (a Salus model), I notice the range is -10°C to +20°C!
You may be able to substantial lower its setting, closer to zero - especially if there's plenty of corrosion inhibitor in the system (which should have a similar effect as a dedicated anti-freeze). Lag any exposed pipes!
Toying with the idea of getting a new boiler located indoors.. costly solution though!0
