Finding last minute hotel deals? (ideally central Liverpool)

Browsing the Travelodge website, it seems the prices of hotel stays are going up. Does anyone have any recommendations and websites for last minute hotel deals in the UK? I'm looking to stay in Liverpool during October, but not sure if I should bank on getting a last minute deal.

Just the usual booking/hotels.com etc.
If you find a cancellable rate you can live with then if something cheaper does pop up then you can cancel and book that instead.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Whatever you do do not stay in the Adelphi even if cheapest!Agree about the football. Unless your dates are set you are best visiting when liverpool play away.1
