It's fine where it's odd things which have slipped through the net - bit different if it persists and it looks like the previous occupant CBA updating their address.eddddy said:
Yep - as I said, I think that seems like a perfectly reasonable, friendly and helpful thing to do.Ade_J said:
The fact that they didn’t sort a redirection doesn’t bother me - I’m more than happy to drop post around to their friend.
I'm surprised that approach seems to enrage so many people here.1 -

at there any other options to safeguard ourselves? What bothers me is the quantity suggests they haven’t updated their address and the parcels could suggest they might even still be using this one. We’ve had formal letters, letters addressed to his company (he was self employed), we’re not talking junk mail. The consensus seems to be it’s nothing to be concerned about though - thanks everyone! The potential issue is if any of the letters were demands for payment which result in your address being flagged on a credit score.Since you mention the previous resident had a company, you might also wish to check out whether it is still registered to your address at Companies House and so-on.0 -
I'd be opening it to see what's going on. Anything junk or unnecessary goes in the bin, anything which might be important gets resealed and marked opened in error, return to sender.2

Addresses have not been 'flagged' or blacklisted for many, many, many years.prowla said:Ade_J said:

register with the mail preference service, takes a few months to kick in but once it does should sort the issue

https://www.mpsonline.org.uk/MPS helps deal with junk mail - it won't stop items of mail which the sender believes are going to someone living at the OP's address.I could be wrong, but I'd assume that 'parcels' are not being sent as junk mail marketing.0 -

I'm surprised that approach seems to enrage so many people here.I agree. On other threads I've suggested that it would be neighbourly/friendly to forward mail or hold it for collection. But in this case the involvement of some kind of business activity, plus the neighbour's agreement with the postie to (unlawfully) intercept mail waves a great big red flag... which means I'd want nothing to do with it, or have my address continuing to be used for some kind of purpose I don't know about.2 -
We had the bailiffs put a letter through the door for the previous occupant (our tenant). The tenant hadn't left a forwarding address, but we did have the address of his mother, which I passed to the bailiff. Anything junk I redirected to her for a while, then RTS. A couple of letters from the same organisation turned up still after RTS so I opened and phoned them, then they stopped.Who on earth has parcels sent to an old address more than once by accident?Make £2025 in 2025

Not worth making trips with increased petrol price. Pile the letters then on your way can drop it. Otherwise bin it if return to sender not working.sheramber said:I bought my house 2 years ago and am getting lettres addressed to the seller, despite returning to sender. It is the return address so onviously they are ignoring the returns.
Last year and this year I have received a Union letter- name of union is on the envelope- which is marked 'private and personal" and "important this is not a circular" It is addressed to a different name to the seller, who lived here for 7 years, so who knows when she lived here.
Again, the return has been ignored as a year later I receive another letter.
I do not have a postbox nearby and have to make a special trip to reach one so next lot will get shredded.
Have now signed uo to the link quoted above so hopefully no more letters. As one is from a debt company I await the bailiffs since they are ignoring the returned letters.0 -
I still get the odd bit of mail 2 years on, just goes in the bin.0
