BOGOF Deals?

It never works. Look at the Scottish alcohol pricing. Sales of alcohol have reduced but what it was meant to reduce, alcohol related deaths and alcohol related crime, have risen. The sales have reduced because those that cannot afford it are buying less but the problem sector have carried on regardless and there is now evidence that the problem sector are prioritising their now more expensive alcohol purchases above other things so actually making health and welfare problems worse for both themselves and their families. If you want to see the nanny state in action come to Scotland with Wales rapidly going in the same direction.sammyjammy said:

I don’t think it’s nanny state, I am annoyed it’s been put back a year now until October 2023. The ban is only on junk food bogofsammyjammy said:Not seen any but it's not something I'd look for. Why would you ban something like that? Talk about nanny state!Bogof was generally on junk/high fat/high sugar things and quite rightly will be banned.

It works for the masses that make an economic decision, but for those determined to spend their money on any particular vice its just going to take them that step nearer to their own demise.molerat said:

Agree, into they don't like it, so it should be banned! Are we not allowed to make our own choices?sammyjammy said:

These deals are rare these days - I haven't seen them in ages
However, when they were a big thing, I was on the breadline, and having BOGOF on a pizza would mean i could eat an extra day
So I would never deny another person this - when you are poor, you do not have the luxury of being concerned about the nutritional value of everything - and I am talking really poor £5 for a weeks foodWith love, POSR
