E-on - switching from a dual-rate to flat-rate electricity
Asking on behalf of my elderly friend...
I just made some calculations and found out that with their usage and current prices 42p and 14p the annual bill is about £500 more than for a flat rate 33p. This ignores standing charge - is it the same? I spent a lot of time to find this 33p figure, and now I can't find it again on E-on's convoluted website.
How easy is it to change the tariff? In their online account I see "You can choose to renew your tariff without having to call us.", but only some more expensive dual-rate tariff is offered - "Our flexible tariff, where prices can go up or down with the wholesale market."

There should be no problem getting them to agree to charge all units at the single rate.
However you will need to get in touch with them, and at the moment that is a problem. I have much the same request to make as a result of the recent changes to the Next Online tariff that I am on, and have now been waiting for more than a week to get a response to my request via Facebook Messenger, which I have found in the past has been a very effective method of communication as they have responded within minutes. Not at the moment though.1 -

Do they have a smart meter or an older actual dual-rate meter? When we changed 4 years ago they had to put in a new single-rate meter before they took us off Economy 10.
Maybe it's changed since then, but just mentioning as a possibility.

Sorted this out for a neighbour who's storage heaters had been replaced with daytime 'magic clay heaters.' Ouch!Eon are quite happy to move you onto a single rate tariff whilst keeping the ec7 meter, just takes a phone call.2
