Santander Everyday Credit Card

I opened one of these towards the start of the year (already had a Santander current account)
Does anyone know if the card requires you to have a bank account, to remain open. i.e. if I close the current account, will the card also be closed?

I did read through the T&Cs, and I didn't see anything, which would mean it doesn't. But it's very easy to miss something in the small print.

Just want to be sure before I proceed, and risk losing the 0% offer on the card.

No, you don't. Even for cards which require you to hold a current account to open one, I've never heard of a credit card being closed as a result of a CASS or current account closure.
  • I have the same card, I didn't have a Santander current account when I got it (though I do now for a switch offer!)

No problem. I have a Santander Everyday credit card but don't have any other account with them.

If you don't already have a copy of the Santander credit card Ts & Cs, you can download a copy from this page. (You'll need to click on the + sign beside "Other account information".) The circumstances in which the bank can cancel your card are set out in conditions 15 and 23. I don't see anything there about closing an associated current account.

Just in case you might be visiting Spain or the Canaries - a Santander debit card is the best deal for using at their ATMs.
If so, it's a good idea to keep it active.
  • Cheers, all.
