Santander refusing to honour switching incentive

  • How do you know they are refusing to honour the switch? As other people have stated you won't have even passed the qualifying period yet. Or is it because something went wrong with the original switch request and so you had to provide them the details again after the 22nd September?

The T&C's clearly stated "as long as the switch has been requested before the incentive is withdrawn, you will be eligible for the incentive". So even if the switch happens after the 22nd you will still be eligible, as you request the switch date at the time of opening the account and was allowed to choose a date in the future.
Good point, switch date might not be as critical as I suggested above.

However OP still hasn't given any info on whether, or when, switch was requested, only that the account was opened (the switch date doesn't have to be chosen when the account is opened - it can be begun completely afterwards)

I got the following email from Santander:
Due to Monday 19 September being declared a Bank Holiday and the technical changes needed across many of the banks for this, we’ll need to re-process your switch request. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

You don’t need to do anything – we’ll take care of it

Don’t worry, you do not need to do anything. We’ll re-process your current account switch request and contact you soon to confirm a new completion date.

If your switch was eligible for the switcher cashback offer, it will still remain eligible once your switch completes and you meet the qualifying criteria.
and then on the Tuesday 20th September was told that the switch should complete on the 26th September and that they'll verify my eligibility in 60 days, with the incentive paid within 30 days later.
Why would they refuse when the 60 days isn't even up yet?

Where does it say you were refused?

I don't think Astria is saying theirs was refused. They're pointing out that the OP's shouldn't have been refused.  Always assuming the OP did actually request the switch before the deadline, which the OP hasn't confirmed.

    Ah... I see.
OK I'll answer the other question:
Their average payout time is 54 days, so they check earlier than 60 days.
If they checked and found the OP ineligible, they may have informed her/him.

PS Good to see the correct use of 'they're' and 'their', there. Rare. :+1:

That's what I keep asking, but OP hasn't responded.
