Road in front of the house

I am looking at putting an offer for a house. The road however is not a typical tarmac but paved stones. Also in the title plan it looks like the portion of the road in front of the house belongs to the house. Am I reading this correctly?
would this mean thar this is private road?

This is how it looks

Being within the title doesn't necessarily mean anything - it's commonplace for adopted (i.e. public) roads to be within the title of adjoining properties.
I would guess however the monoblocked area is private, if not the tarmac section as well.

Maybe, maybe not. You need to find out what the limits of the adopted highway are - one option might be that you own the land but the 'road' is highway, but this is less likely now on modern estates.Martisha said:I am looking at putting an offer for a house. would this mean thar this is private road?Do the deeds say anything about shared rights of access? You would need that at least to be able to get from your property across the neighbour's and onto the public road.0 -
Before going further I'd do much more due diligence on responsibility for the highway, streetlighting and sewers which may run under the streets as it all looks private.
Check the property title for estate or rent charges payable for highway works. Local council website may have adopted highway maps to check online.0 -
Or if you're at the stage of making an offer, what have you already asked the vendor/EA about the road or common charges etc?0

I checked the deeds on land registry and there are no estate charges in the charges register. The whole estate will be adopted by the council, but its a very big one and this road may remain private?daveyjp said:Before going further I'd do much more due diligence on responsibility for the highway, streetlighting and sewers which may run under the streets as it all looks private.

I have only asked about the service charges and was told that are not any. The deeds does not contain any estate charges either.user1977 said:Or if you're at the stage of making an offer, what have you already asked the vendor/EA about the road or common charges etc?0
