Hello,
i have just seen that you can claim back for bank fees. About 5/6 years ago I was constantly in my overdraft and paying fees. It was when contactless was fairly new and you could use it 3 times without the money coming out of your bank for a couple of days, as i was 18 i used to use it all the time with no money in my bank and then was hit with fees at the end of the month. Do i have a case to claim this bank? Thanks

i have just seen that you can claim back for bank fees.Where?
That hasn't been possible for well over a decade after the banks won the supreme court case. Today, they will only consider potential refunds where the person is in current financial hardship.Do i have a case to claim this bank?Nothing you have suggests you qualify for current financial hardship. Are you in arrears with any utility companies, council tax or any other major bills?

However, I'm not confident that you will have success BUT you will lose nothing if you write to the bank and ask them if you can have some, or all, of the fees back. It isn't a right, it's at any bank's discretion. Explain your case as being younger, having your first credit card and not realising the consequences of consistent spending.
There's some current information from this very site in this link - https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/bank-charges/
Good luck, you never know. You could be lucky. But you won't know if you don't try. I'm always in favour of having a try! Some you lose, some you win but you never win if you never even have a go.

However, if you feel the bank could have treated you better than it did, you are perfectly free to register a complaint with them, they have 12 weeks to issue a final response to you.
They may or may not uphold your complaint, you no longer have an automatic right to a bank charges refund, but the bank could, if it wished, make a goodwill gesture to you in the form of some financial compensation for any upset or distress this may have caused you.
You may, however, have left things a little too late, the limitation period is 6 years, so you may be cutting it close.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
