Energy Price Cap
I have a fixed rate tariff at £227 per month for 2 year equivalent to £2724 annually. EDF now want to change my Direct Debit to £286 per month (£3432 annually). Can they do this?
In the energy summit at MSE Towers on Tue 13 September with the big firms' CEOs, all firms there - Brit Gas, Ovo (SSE), Octopus, EDF, E.on, Shell - agreed to my Martin's request that customers who end up on fixes at a higher rate than the price guarantee WILL be allowed to move on to that firm's price guarantee tariff, with no early exit penalties, until at least 15 Nov (some beyond that).

Yes they can. Your DD is not the tariff you are paying.
If you are using more than expected, you need to pay more money.1 -
Those total figures mean nothing you need to talk in pence per kWh and standing charges then check against the regional standard variable rate figures under the price freeze cap.
