Any thoughts about using oiled Softwood door frame with an Oak door (internal).  Stained with the same oil will they look substantially different or is it likely to not be enough to notice?
The only Oak frames I can find for a sensible price are MDF with an Oak venneer which are crap and too soft to use, hence wondering about mixing Softwood frames with Oak doors.

Clear oil? They will look completely different.
Coloured oil? Marginally better, but still very different.
Their grain structures are so contrasting.

Can you get another hardwood like, say, ramin? Although relatively characterless, the tight grain generally resembles oak. Ish.
