Rejected by Santander

Months ago, my son applied for a Santander 123 student bank account. Kept asking for the same info (identity and ucas number). Every time it was sent, it was returned again. After numerous phone calls, each time they said they couldn’t see what the issue was. He was told not to worry and they would sort it.
Everytime he phones, he’s put on hold for ages, then gets cut off. It’s so stressful
He went off to uni, now they are saying it’s been rejected due to his credit file.
Checked and there’s nothing wrong. He’s lived at the same address since birth!
Is there any one else in a similar situation? Is there any point trying a different bank?

Try other bsnks but If his credit record is ok check for a https://www.cifas.org.uk/dsar cifas marker.Young people sometimes get dragged into putting someone else's money through their bank account which can lead to a marker the bank thinks it's suspicious1
