Elkatherm Heat App
Hi!
We have a number of Elkatherm radiators in our house. They use the Heat App as the remote control.

Recently I’ve experienced several prolonged periods where I can’t control the radiators remotely.
Apparently there’s a server issue.
is anyone else experiencing similar problems?
These radiators are very expensive and if one of their features is rendered useless because of an App, then they are a waste of money

TBH the Elkatherm radiators are in the same league as Fischer & Rointe - overpriced, filled with fairy dust, magic oil or celestial crystals and dont give any real benefits over a £30 oil filled radiator from B&Q. 2kwh in gives 2kwh out, it's as simple as that
They cost the same to run on peak rate electricity as a £30 B&Q rad. They aren't storage heaters in the sense that they can use cheaper off-peak electricity to store energy for release during peak times, they are just a bit slower to warm up and slower to cool down.
Possibly the remote function might be useful to some but could probably be achieved with something like a smart plug for around £10 a rad or a bit more if you want remote temperature controls as well.
