We ordered a Wii from them at the beginning of December…I had a funny feeling that something was up, because when we paid, the site took our money without us having a chance to double check the order. In addition, I noticed at the last minute that the “s” that should have been on the https showing a secure site did not appear to be there...(maybe it was, but I didn't see it, by which time our details had been "sucked up" into the system)
I immediately warned the credit card company (who have been excellent so far) who allowed the money for the wii to go through (at our request), and then we put the wheels in motion to cancel the credit card, as I was concerned about the details getting into the wrong hands..
Normally I check a company out before I purchase online, but Companies House is shut online on a Sunday, and the accounts for Ozone electronics were up to date anyway..
Our credit card company have said that they will send us the docs to claim for a refund…I have been expecting this- I just knew something wasn’t right..
Have emailed the bbc as you suggest
I found them a month ago and before i ordered i checked companies house and also ordered there accounts for a £1.00 and to be honest that would not have stopped me ordering as they had a very healthy balance and turnover was fine.
What did thankfully stop me buying was the fact that i checked the registrar for their domain and found that they only started site in September so i passed on by and how glad am i that i did.0 -
I placed an online order for a Nintendo Wii on the 17th November and was guaranteed delivery by the 15th December. Payment of £223.24 was taken form my account on the 8th December. When the Wii didn't arrive I attempted to make contact vai phone but the number no longer connected. Attempts to email were met with an automated response claiming Streamline Merchant services (the company processing the online payments) had withdrawn their services and thus were holding our money and it was their responsibility to refund. Unsurprisingly they disagree.
It would seem fraud has been committed on a national scale (refer to the forum group, there is also a large one on Amazon) and if we are to go off our order numbers it would seem close to 5000 people have been scammed and if the average price is £250, thats over 1 million pounds fraudlently obtained. Manchester Police which where very rude and none helpful & Trading standards are involved due to the high number of claims and there has been alot of media coverage, both TV and press but yet still no one seem's to be really interested.
I paid via a Visa Debit card. I understand this card does not offer the protection of a credit card but Visa cards (including Delta and Electron) are covered under the cards "goods not received" provision and you can make a chargeback. You need to push for it but the right is there. Banks such as Nationwide, Natwest and Lloyds TSB have issued refunds. My bank, Halifax, have been most UNHELPFUL and the woman in the call centre was not even aware of chargeback. The customer should request that the card issuer dispute the transaction under the charge back arrangement. The card issuer should then make a claim in effect against the merchant acquirer. So far they have not done this but are sending me some 'forms'.

Needless to say many of us out there want attention drawn to this and thus find ourselves contacting you in bid to find someone helpful!

If you paid via credit card then do a chargeback via your bank, I think even debits cards are sometimes covered I didnt no this until recently0

I had ordered a wii with OZONE ELECTRONICS and was waiting for delivery. I did not have any money taken at time of booking. I cancelled the order two weeks later as I got a wii else where at a better price. They did not take any money from my account. I was contacted a week later by my credit card company stating that I had suspicious activity on my account. There were two attempts to try and obtain a total of £1500 paying for "Google adwords". These were obviously attempted frauds. I have never had any problems before, and after I have read some of the problems I wonder if there may be some connection (Alleged). I suggest that any person who had dealings with them to double check your accounts. Your credit card details may of got into the wrong hands.0

Just to add some good news...I ordered a wii from Ozone Electronics and needless to say I didn't receive it. Stupidly paid with debit card and my bank (NatWest) told me that there was nothing that they could do apart from cancelling my card to make sure that nothing else was taken from it. Got my bank statement today and the money has been credited to my account!!!!
Wishing everybody else that got caught up in this scam the same luck and a Happy New Year!0 -

Ozone was featured on Watchdog tonight. They showed a pictured of their "headquarters", which was a boarded-up wreck of a shop. The programme also said that the owners had disappeared and both Trading Standards and the police were looking for them. Nintendo also issued statememt which said they had never dealt with the company.0
