Where should a 77 year old pensioner put £30,000, preferably with instant access?
At present it is languishing in a Marcus savings account earning 1.8% interest.

do you really need instant access to £30,000?
Do you need for example
instant access to £10,000
180 day access to £10,000
1yr access to £10,000
Just a thought3 -

My wife is convinced that if I squirrel it away somewhere she won't be able to find it if I go first.mark_cycling00 said:do you really need instant access to £30,000?

I have a spreadsheet (and a letter with how to access said spreadsheet, other documents etc that 2 people will have separate access to if anything happens) with bank details, rough amounts, account numbers and sort codes. This is updated whenever the circumstances change in it.sandy700 said:

I'm holding a lot less than £30k in cash currently (meaning in bank accounts), but this works well for any number of accounts.💙💛 💔0 -

Find 5.12% for £5k with hoops, 2.5% for £5k and 2.00% for balance over etc.
Ask questions there, they're a helpful bunch.

Why not keep an updated list of your accounts and give her a copy?
