BT Retention Deal

Thanks to the haggling guide https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/broadband-and-tv/haggle-with-bt-existing-customer-tips/ and a bit of determination, I've knocked £302.40 a year off my Broadband/Landline/Mobile package. I've kept the same 70MB fibre broadband, increased my mobile data from 2GB to 5GB, and kept the landline number. However, I ditched the landline's 500 inclusive minutes add-on, as I only used 41 in a month. It really does pay to haggle if you don't want to change provider.

Maybe not the best idea as at 20p min that would be £8.20 in call charges so may end up costing you morescrimperdave said:However, I ditched the landline's 500 inclusive minutes add-on, as I only used 41 in a month.1 -

If you only use 41 minutes in a month then as above (the current rate is showing as 22.84p per minute plus 26..5p per call set up fee) you're loosing out. You'd have done better to have kept the 500 minutes and haggled to get them included in my opinion. But if you're happy with what you've negotiated then good for you.1 -

I kept my landline number (£2 pcm) for 1) incomiong calls 2) emergency backup if mobile gets lost/stolen/broken.Package Cost £35.99 down from £61.19 pcm. There were more factors than price in my calculations, e.g. I really didn't want the hassle of losing email addresses I've had for 20 years, or updating the many shopping/media/bank accounts I use that need email/password combos, so yes, I'm happy with the outcome.1
