Switching suppliers
Hi. Is it still possible to switch suppliers? I'm with Scottish Power on the standard online tariff. Their customer service is terrible. You can't get past the "bots" on the online chat. Thier app doesn't give me my energy usage due to technical difficulties and the smart meter display I have is an old one from my previous supplier British Gas. The smart meter has not updated to the Scottish power tariffs so the the display tells us a complete lie when display how much I am spending each day in £'s. Scottish Power have just kept saying it is technical difficulties and they are working on it. Anyway I was wondering if I can switch back to British Gas so that the smart meter will work. Thanks

Not online, but you can argue by phone and then some will accept a switch.

I switched yesterday from Scottish Power to EDF. It was very simple and straightforward. Have been notified that the transfer will happen tomorrow. The reason I switched is because SP don’t offer direct debit monthly amount so the unit charge was 33% more and their lack of customer service1

It's possible, but don't expect any new supplier to give you a new IHD - those are generally a single issue only.
I found an on-the-phone switch to EDF was relatively straightforward although having said that I am still waiting to get confirmation that it's all going ahead, so perhaps not quite as easy as I thought...🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Don't assume that if you switched back to BG that your in home display would definitely then work again. It might but I wouldn't count on it, and you may find you're just having the same frustrations with a deferent supplier.
I'm sure your IHD shows usage in kWh. You could work out the cost per day for different amounts and have it in a little table by your display. That way you could quickly check what your daily cost is if you want to.0
