Collection only item question

Buyer has just collected an item from me. There is no option for me to scan or enter a code which he brought with him - looking under sold section and the only option is "marked as dispatched" or "print a label". Where should I be looking? I have done collections before and scanned before but this time I have no option.

All you need to do is take the 6 digit number. The reason for the process is to stop buyers saying they have paid for an item online but can't collect the item from the seller using excuses such as seller not in, seller unresponsive etc.. As the code is only provided to the buyer by eBay then, if the seller has the code that's the proof that the buyer has collected the item. Just keep the code as your evidence the item has been collected.......you don't need to do anything else with it.0

Yes, I have done just that. Took a photo of the code when he was here. Just puzzled as previously there was an option to scan or put the code in but now there isn't.0

The scan to confirm collection button normally appears once the buyer has sent payment for the item.
If they paid cash/bank transfer on collection then if you mark as dispatched or payment received it might show up for you but if you've had cash/bank transfer they won't have any buyer protection so not much point you putting the code in anyway.
There is a scam where dodgy buyers pay you directly for goods/services using PayPal but don't go through ebay checkout. They collect the item and give you the ebay code but then open a not received dispute directly with PayPal.
Ebay does not give out your PayPal details though so they would have had to ask you for your PayPal account details before paying if that was the case

Also, if it does happen that you get a dodgy buyer the code will only really be any use if you scan it before they leave with the item otherwise they could just make up any old 6 digit number and it wouldn't work if you tried to input it to defend a dispute that they open after they left.0
