Ectophile said:It depends on how confident you are around electrics. I would happily change it myself if I were in your position. It makes things a lot easier if you can source the identical switch.
- Turn off the power.
- Undo the cover screws and pull the broken switch off the wall.
Always double check. Don't ask me how I know this!
(Particularly for an electric shower, which is often a later addition to an earlier wiring installation and may have been wired separately from the main fuse board).1 - Turn off the power.

Just to add, there is an assumption that the Housing Association may be the most expensive option, but I'm not sure that is necessarily true. If they are charging out an in-house employee's time, rather than an outside contractor, this is often at a "social" rate rather than a commercial one. For all sorts of peace-of-mind reasons coming clean to the HA might be the best option.0

If the OP cannot DIY this, or doesn't have a competent friend/colleague who can, and doesn't know of a friendly sparky happy to pop in for a half-hour at the end of a day, then, yes, the HA is probably best.I'd tell them I have the replacement part, and there's no rush. Hopefully their handypeep will fit it in to their normal schedule.0

Asked my GF for the newspaper the other day. She told me I was old fashioned and everyone just used their tablet instead and passed me an Ipad.
