British Gas -When will we received money off our energy bill?

If people really need telling that “help with your bill will come in October” is not the same as “cash in your bank on 1 October” then it doesn’t matter how helpful a supplier is trying to be.
I know many people around here like bashing suppliers if they don’t get every piece of information hand-delivered, but there are far more useful things for them to be doing.1 -

I haven't made a direct debit payment this month because I'm already in credit. How does it work out if I'm already in credit? That's the question I was going to ask. They just deducted money I was in credit by on October 2nd, but I've not had anything back so far.0 -

Assuming you pay your bill by direct debit then there is no point in ringing British Gas and adding to the 2 hour queue when its been answered on this very thread.
British Gas are not taking £66 off your bill this month - You will pay British Gas the usual amount - they are sending you the government money directly to your bank to do with as you wish AFTER you have paid them your usual direct debit. With British Gas you can click 'make a payment' in your online account and pay this £66/£67 back onto your energy account if you wish but you dont have to.
This below direct from British Gas
We'll send the money straight to your bank each month – like a refund – once your Direct Debit has gone through.
For example:
If your Direct Debit is £100 a month, you’d pay that as normal. Then a few days later, £67 will be paid in to your bank account.1 -

No it’s an influx of customers calling because their £66 wasn’t credited on 1st October & have no patienceGTare14 said:I just rang again and there is a wait of 2 hours. It's obvious to me this isn't about a sudden influx of broken boilers.
You talk like British Gas has never made mistakes with customers bills before. They have done it a couple of times with me and I've only been with them a couple of years.0 -
That isn't how DD work, it is a continuous (usually) monthly payment. If you have cancelled the DD then it won't becoming off that bill as ours did ie normal payment £170 but this month it was reduced to £103.GTare14 said:frugalmacdugal said:Hi,as already said, when you make your DD payment, have you already paid this month, if so might take a day or two.

Really quite simple.
Why did you cancel your DD?0 -

I haven't cancel my direct debit with them, I pay each month on a variable rate and I've always kept myself in credit each month. That usually means I am always in credit with them, so when the direct debit is taken each month they just deduct the money for the energy I've consumed each month. I am not on a fixed rate direct debit, I'm on a variable for what I use each month.0 -
Hi,have you checked your bank account to see if it's there, might take a day or so though?0

It's taken British gas 10 months and counting for them to try and fix an android app that is still not working correctly. My In Home display has not worked for 14 months and after three calls to them about it, I gave up. Four calls for them to switch me to paying my bills monthly before it was done. I'll say no more.0 -
In that case the £66 will be credited to your account probably within the first 2 weeks of the month, not necessarily on the 1st & this will be deducted from your charges & you will just pay the difference. I suggest you just wait a couple of weeks to see what happens.GTare14 said:Flight3287462 said:

It's not really surprising that customers are getting confused by the information, I've been a BG customer for what will be 40 years on 22nd this month - but having now apparently migrated onto their new system and been without access to my account data for the last month - I get an email just now thanking me for joining them as a new customer and telling me that they've set up my new DD which will be taken quarterly. Logging in to my BG account, it tells me that my DD will be taken monthly - which is almost certainly the correct period. But a number of these little bits of sloppiness are adding to confusion too.2
