Scottish Power Direct Debit increase
Anyone been able to challenge latest direct debit rise with Scottish Power?
I am almost £500 in credit, average monthly usage around £80 gas and electric combined. I have been paying £128 month since last increase, now put it up to £170 from next month. I now live alone in a small bungalow since my husband died in February and back at work full time so energy use much kess than last winter when my husband was terminally ill.
I have tried phoning since last Thursday ( says can't answer calls due to volume), live chat is a " bot" and no help and messenger also not answering for days and now say my latest bill was estimated and will take 15 days to show on my account despite me submitting actual readings at the end of every month!
I accept my usage will rise over winter but with government £400 allowance plus £ 500 credit currently, the numbers only add up in their favour.
My account also says as its only 5 months to my review date they have estimated my usage up to April 2024 which I assume means I can't claim back my credit in April 2023.
Question: should I cancel my direct debit and then they will have to bill me monthly based on actual energy used?
Apologies for length of my post.

Remember they will be knocking £66-67 off your DD per month for the next 6 months.
If I were you I wouldn't change anything until the winter is over. especially bearing in mind the rebate.
You really don't want to be owing them much at the end of winter. Keep a note of your monthly readings for future guidance.0 -
Prices have gone up (nearly doubled) since last winter and they don’t know that/if your usage will go down.0
