APCOA appeal rejected without telling me now they want full amount

Hi,
I received a parking ticket from APCOA for forgetting to pay the parking fine for £17.50, or £70 if not paid within 14 days.
I appealed and they said they'll get back to me within 28 days, a few weeks later and I haven't heared anything and rechecked the ticket and it says they rejected the appeal on 9th September. I had double checked all emails and letters through the post and I'm certain I didnt receive anything from them regarding the appeal.
Is there any way I can get rid of this or only pay the original £17.50 amount because i feel like they slighted me with this?
They wont let me reappeal the fine and they make it very difficult to contact them in any meaningful way.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

No one however has "slighted" you2 -

Sly and slight have different meanings, sly means to do something in an underhand way, whereas slight or slighted means to insult.2

This thread would be worth reading as it's a recent similar situation: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6366985/apcoa-penalty-notice/p1
