it's installed with illegal file sharing software
it should be removed
quote:-
On PC's where Kazaa has been installed and run, P2PNetworking.exe opens
up port 3531, and it stays open even if Kazaa is closed (it is a
separate process, and the port is not configurable). If it is not
running when Kazaa is launched, it will be started- but never stopped.
1214 is open only when Kazaa is running, but 1214 is only the default
port (user-configurable).

This post will probably get closed, but to educate you on the subject (rather than just leave you unaware)...
P2P is a way of sharing files over a network. Generally speaking though this is usually illegal files over the internet, which is why P2P gets such bad press.
P2P won't be going away though. It's a very effective way of sharing files as it decentralises the source of the file. Ie, If more than one machine has a copy of the file, you download off those sources too, rather than just the original source. This takes the strain off one machine having to host the file, plus it potentially allows you to download the file more quickly.
Even the bbc are considering P2P for distributing their programmes on the internet."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
that file in itself is spyware.....

Don’t talk about downloading illegal software on here please!
Martin’s site can be closed!!!! And then where would you go?
If you need to know something? Pm someone.
A thread like this was also closed a few days ago!I'm not poor i'm just skint0 -
hang on. surely there's a big difference between discussing p2p and actually recommending sites, isn't there?Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.0

Hi
There is a blanket ban on discussing filesharing here.
click here for the most recent offical post
I've left this thread open so far because it was possible that it was more a question of unwanted software on the original posters computer and he/she wanted help to remove it.
But I'll email abcon to take a look just in case I'm wrong0 -
Yeah, we're purely explaining P2P. Nothing illegal has been mentioned, no software recommended, and no sites linked.
And just because it's P2P doesn't mean it's illegal. P2P is used for distributing distro's of Linux, and possibly even a service provided by the bbc (should they finally make a decision) to download their programmes.
I can understand if the illegal side of P2P (giving links etc...) can't be discussed, but to not allow the explaination of a form of file ditribution is ludicrous (with many people unaware of what it is), especially when it's something that is here for the future.
Say if the bbc do decide to use it to distribute their programmes, can we discuss it then?????"Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
I was just looking for some advice as I was not sure if this was a good thing on my computer(all the family share). My daughter has just informed me she has Kazza and its part of the package. I am sorry if I caused any offence with my question I am a bit dim when it comes to computer Techie stuff but thanks to everyone for the all advice.0
