Morning all.
Bit grey outside and our central heating still isn't working properly. Luckily, it's not needed atm but I'll get it checked out on Thursday when our bathroom chap comes as it seems the pump is sticking so it either stays on or doesn't switch on at all.
Yesterday I did all the dusting and polishing, even stuck the duster between the banisters, and DH did the hoovering. Can forget about doing that for a week or so now. Also got one set of towels washed and dried on the line and a lemon drizzle cake made. I used up some gluten free flour in the cake so will see how that turns out as we haven't cut it yet.
Today is collecting DGS from pre school at lunchtime and then we're going to take lunch with us and go over to Wrest Park. We're no longer English Heritage members but I think you can go to the cafe and play area there without entering the main site. If not we'll find somewhere else to go.
Slow cooker will be going on with a pork steak to share, as it's so big, and some leeks, onion, garlic, grated fresh ginger and soy sauce. It will be ready when we get home and then I'll be out again about 7pm so an easy meal today.
Taff: good to see you back
Nelski: good luck for today. Hope it's a takeaway!12 -
Morning everyone
Nels - fingers crossed for you today - I hope it's a takeaway for tea not beans on toast x
I've little kitten to take to the vets this morning for her 2nd jab - DD will take us so little one will come in to 'help' the vet and ask lots of questions. She usually asks for a turn with the stethoscope.
Then I've work at lunchtime, after work my Covid booster...all the other jabs have made me ill for a few days so I'm crossing my fingers I'm ok after this one.
Picked some apples from the tree in the front garden with the children yesterday so I need to cook them to freeze for apple crumbles.....will take some back for them to make crumbles on Friday afternoon.
Better get moving as I want to change the cat litter then hoover before I go to the vets.
Wicked Lady - my central heating isn't working properly either. It comes on with the timer but doesn't switch back off. Someone coming to look at it next Wednesday.
Hope everyone has a good day x12 -

Morning all
It's a bit grey down by the coast but dry. Just been told our kitchen will cost a bit more due to having to upgrade some electrics. I'll just have to nurse a bit more. I really want to just do my cleaning business but there you go. Last night I aired out my washing in front of the log burner. I really feel I'm in the 1970's. Dinner tonight is pre-prepared chicken curry out of the freezer. As I can't do anything in the house I shall do some gardening. DP is out there cutting up wood for the log burner, DS is just emerging from his pit.
Have a fabulous day10 -
Hi all
Gradually tackling some of the big declutter tasks and those annoying jobs like deep cleaning cupboards. Winter curtains are waiting to be ironed before being put up again.
Dinner last night was roast lamb neck fillet with potatoes and veg, the meat was free from hubby's work. Tonight is bolognese, with free pork mince. Some weeks we get lucky and it's very helpful!
Weather here is cloudy but not sure what time the rain will come!
Have a good day all
Edit to add: Is my freezer cheaper to run/more energy efficient if it is full? Would storing my ice blocks in the empty space help? Thank youMarried 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

Hello all, I'm bringing up the rear today but I had a much needed lie in. We had a really long day at Dad's yesterday and didn't get home till nearly 7pm. The flooring has been finished, it was really fiddly as not one wall was straight and there were lots of curves to get round. I also did some other jobs for him too. Today both of us are feeling the after effects of getting up and down so much and now we're groaning every time we take a step ! My chest is wheezy too and I'm coughing from inhaling the tiny fibres. I shall have a relaxing bath in a minute, then I'm having a chill out day and doing nothing remotely work wise. Tomorrow I have another busy day as I have a neurology appointment in the morning and my flu jab in the afternoon. Tea tonight will be some BBQ chicken drumsticks and hm chips.
taff lovely to see you back safe and sound, shame about the car though.
Madbat hello! It's lovely to see new members in our happy family group.
Nels my fingers are crossed for you today.
Ruby hope your DM is ok.
Apologies as I've forgotten most of what else has been said 🤔
Take care all. Hugs to anyone in need.

Chest freezers certainly are but not sure about fridge freezers. Not so much that it's cheaper because it's fuller but if you open it, it takes longer to get back to temperature after it's closed. I'd imagine fridge freezers are less prone to that because of the drawers. But you may as well keep it full anyway because stuff is only going to get more expensive....
